This week's Senior Sunday conversation is with no other than No. 17, Blake Hill. Blake is another multi-sport athlete whose career will be closing at the end of this season.
Hombre Lobo: Blake, I appreciate you giving me some time today. How does it feel being a Senior and this being the last go round wearing the Navy and Old Gold?
Blake Hill: Well, it's kind of disappointing to be honest, we will all be kind of going our own ways after May. Which is both kind of sad but also exciting.
HL: I can see that and understand exactly what you mean. Did you do anything special this summer to get ready for the season?
BH: Got in shape at summer pride.
HL: How about any goals you have set for yourself or the team?
BH: My goal is to contribute as much as I can to the team so we can do well enough to keep our season going long into the playoffs.
HL: That's a great answer. There's no 'I' in team and it takes everyone pulling on the same rope to get where you need to be. How about when you get ready for games, do you have a favorite team meal or any pregame traditions or superstitions?
BH: I like the Chicken Alfredo from the Stack and before each game I drink a 12 oz. Red Bull.
HL: What is one of your favorite memories of playing football and what type of legacy do you think that you and your teammates will leave once the season is finished?
BH: My favorite moments are just being under those Friday night lights. It's a great feeling. I think the legacy that we will leave will be that while you have to work hard to reach your goals, you can still have fun.
HL: Is there a song that you like to listen to before the game or that would kind of describe this season?
BH: The Boys of Fall by Kenny Chesney.
HL: Which one of your teammates will be the most successful in the future and why?
BH: Harrison Evans. That kid is smart.
HL: You also play golf. Coach Combs is known to be quite intense in his teaching methods. Which coach is more demanding, Coach Myers or Coach Combs?
BH: Coach Myers
HL: What would be your dream course to play and who would you want to bring along with you from your team?
BH: I'd love to play Augusta National with Jax Sternberger) and Noah (Friesen).
HL: That's a beautiful course, be sure and have a pimento cheese sandwich while you're there. What does the future hold for you after KHS?
BH: My plans are to become a firefighter.
HL: That would be awesome. One last question, you're stranded on a desert island...which teammate do you want with you and why?
BH: Noah, so we can freestyle.
HL: I'm not even gonna ask what that is but I will thank you for your time and wish you the best of luck in the future and that you have a successful and healthy season.
BH: Haha. Thank you.
