Sorry for the delay this week, Sofies. Time jumped up on us with Hombre Lobo going off to start a new blog in Dubai covering Seahorse racing and LIV golf and turning the reins of this skyrocketing blog to El Commish. Suffice to say though, that it won't happen again.

This week's conversation is with No. 10, Braden Eaton. He was kind enough to sit down with us after a walk-through practice on a soggy Monday.

El Commish: Braden, thanks for your time. I appreciate you talking to us on such short notice.

Braden Eaton: No problem, I'm happy to do it. Anything for the SofaKing blog and the Sofies.

EC: Spoken like a true champion, so tell me what did you do over the summer to prepare for your Senior season?

BE: Summer pride. And I worked hard to get in shape all around.

EC: Quite a program they have going at Summer Pride, have you set any goals for yourself or the team for this season?

BE: Personally, my goal is to contribute as much as I can in whatever way I can to help the team achieve the overall goal of holding up a gold ball at the end of the season.

EC: You definitely have experience in finishing seasons by winning the last game, but more on that later. Do you have any pregame traditions or superstitions?

BE: I think it's bad luck to have superstitions but before each game I like to go to each of the starters and make sure their heads are in the right place and that they just need to go out there and play their game.

EC: The mental game is a major key to success. Good for you for doing that. How about a favorite pregame meal?

BE: Tater-tot casserole. All the way.

EC: This is your last hurrah with KHS football, what is one of your favorite memories?

BE: Definitely when we beat Marlow my freshman year.

EC: Every coach I've ever been around has some saying that sticks with you long after you have hung up the cleats, what saying will stick with you and from what coach? Also, what sort of legacy do you think you will leave with KHS football?

BE: Coach Callins telling us to worry about your assignment. He's trying to keep us focused on the moment and I think that's something that will be applicable later in life. As far as my legacy, hopefully the younger kids will see how I try to hype up my teammates to get them in the mood to go out there and play to 110% of their abilities.

EC: The bonds made on the field and in the clubhouse are ones that last forever, teammates generally have a connection that last a lifetime and their personalities often surprise many on the outside looking in. With that said, which of your teammates would you want to take along on a trip to Las Vegas?

BE: Kale Westfahl, that kid has crazy good luck.

EC: Always good to have GOOD luck in Vegas, there's plenty of luck in that place but it's usually bad. They didn't build all that stuff because people are going out there and getting rich. Which of your teammates is most likely to become a game show host?

BE: I'm going to say Jax (Sternberger), he just has the voice of someone that would be on TV.

EC: Jax is definitely one talented individual. So, here's one with Jax involved...Jax, Tom Brady, or Russell Wilson... which one do you want throwing you a pass?

BE: No disrespect to Brady or Wilson, but I'm gonna say Jax.

EC: That's impressive although Brady and Wilson both have some pretty crazy stuff going on off the field right now, so I understand. While we have Jax in the conversation, you both play football and basketball. Which sport is more challenging for you?

BE: To be honest, that's a tough question because they are both challenging in their own ways but I'm gonna say football because of all the hits and tough blows you take.

EC: Interesting, the basketball team has had crazy success over the years and people are eagerly anticipating the season to start so they can see if it can continue. One of the biggest questions I have for the basketball season is who will be the first to dunk in a game, X or Drake?

BE: Drake, that kid has some crazy major hops.

EC: I agree, you know Drake is one of the first athletes to take part in the SofaKing NIL program. If you were to apply to be a SofaKing Athlete, what would you bring to the brand and in what sport would you represent?

BE: Both football and basketball, I'd do my best to let the whole state know what the SofaKing is and what it's about.

EC: Good stuff, although I gotta say we are already nationwide according to the metrics and we are shooting for the moon now, baby. Brother, I appreciate you taking the time to sit down with me and answer all these questions. I want to wish you good luck in the remaining games and hope that you have a successful, healthy, and long run into the playoffs.

BE: My pleasure and thank you.

The Jackets return to the Mecca on Friday, October 28th for Senior Night against the North Rock Creek Cougars.
