Well, Sofies, the list of Seniors is dwindling just as the season is gearing up for the playoffs. I had the opportunity yesterday to sit down with Kale Westfahl and get some insights from him. Here is how our conversation went.
El Commish: Kale, thanks for giving me some time, I didn't mean to interrupt your meal though as I see you are enjoying a pizza. There's no pineapple on that pie is there?
Kale Westfahl: Not on mine, I'm a true American and Kingfisher Yellowjacket.
EC: I would expect nothing less from you, my man. So, tell me, what did you do over the summer to get ready for your Senior year?
KW: I did the best to my ability to get strong and build up stamina.
EC: It shows for sure, did the season go as planned for you and how do you feel going into the playoffs?
KW: I think the season went well and we have a good shot at making a long run in the playoffs.
EC: Speaking of long runs, you've had one at KHS- what is your favorite memory so far of being a part of the Jacket football team?
KW: The Marlow game our sophomore year.
EC: That was a big game for sure, many of your senior teammates have referenced that as one of their favorite memories. What sort of legacy do you hope to leave behind with KHS football?
KW: I would like my legacy to be that I was a Jacket who worked hard and respected the game.
EC: How about pregame stuff? Do you have a favorite pregame meal and what do you do before the game to get yourself ready?
KW: Any sort of Mexican style meal for me and before the games I just prepare myself mentally by going through every play in my head.
EC: After spending time with the coaches as long as you have, I'm sure at least one of them has a saying that will stick with you long after your days at KHS are over. What phrase and from what coach will be one that you think will be in your head for years to come?
KW: Coach Myers, "Excuses are like a$!holes, everyone has one."

EC: I'm not sure truer words have ever been spoken. If you could talk Coach Myers into letting you play any position on the field, what would it be and what would you want to do?
KW: I'm doing it now. Be a lineman and block my ass off.
EC: Nothing like living the dream, good for you. What does your future hold after high school?
KW: I'm going straight to work.
EC: Good for you. Now I've heard some stories that you are quite the high roller at the casino. Which one has paid out the best for you? KW: Concho so far.
EC: That's not a bad place to go, I've had some luck there although recently I have been travelling north of the border to do a little sports wagering, responsibly of course. Which of your teammates needs to go to Vegas with you when you guys are able to do that?
KW: Kyle (Borelli), he's one of the casino buddies.
EC: Kyle would be excellent to take on a trip to Vegas. Heck, I think Kyle would be great to take on a trip anywhere for that matter. You have a very talented group that you take the field with every week. Which one of your teammates would be most likely to be on the Masked Singer? KW: Harrison Evans.
EC: That dude can do it all on the field, I'm sure he could probably sing as well. What hobbies do you and some of your teammates like to do in your down time? KW: Gaming. Most of us are into that quite a bit.
EC: I just have one more question for you Kale and I'll let you get on your way. Which of your teammates is the envy of the follicle challenged out there? Who has the best flow, the nicest lettuce, the hair that members of the Hair club for men worldwide wish they had?
KW: That would be the Burnham brothers. Paytun and Tristun. Those guys got some flow fo' sho'.
EC: That they do, that they do. Kale, I appreciate your time today. Good luck to you and your teammates this week and hopefully the weeks to come.
KW: My pleasure and thank you very much.
Kale and the Jackets travel down to wrestle the Lone Grove Longhorns on Friday, November 11 at 7pm.
