I had the opportunity to talk with the Senior studs that will be playing their last home game Friday night. These guys have been through a lot here during their tenure and here is what they had to say:
El Commish: Guys, this is the last home game for you at KHS, has it hit you yet?
Jax: I thought about it last night, it's weird to think we have played here for nine years and this (Friday night) will be the last time.
Noah: It's probably going to take a while for it to fully set in for me.
Kyle: I've been thinking about it a lot, but I don't know if the impact has really hit me yet.
Tristun: I really don't feel like it will set in until right before the game.
Harrison: Definitely not, I still can't believe it.
Cade: Not yet I feel like it will be a while until it really sets in.
Aaron: I've been thinking about this all year and it's finally here, but I don't think it will really hit me until after the game.
Braden: Yes, it has hit. We've had a lot of good times out there.
Blake: No, not quite yet but I think it will hit once we are all out on the field being announced as Seniors.
EC: What are some of your favorite memories from playing on that field?
Noah: My favorite memory is probably us winning our playoff game against Lone Grove.
Jax: Beating Perkins our sophomore year.
Kyle: I would say every time I hugged my parents after our games.
Harrison: Blocking the punt versus Weatherford and scoring. That was the most hype I've ever been.
Tristun: Definitely beating Weatherford this year, it felt good to accomplish that goal.
Blake: Scoring my first touchdown.
Braden: Beating Perkins our sophomore year.
Cade: Either the McCloud or St. Mary's last year, getting wins in both of those games with numerous starters out.
Aaron: My favorite memory is scoring my field goal against Weatherford this year.
EC: As you probably know, tons of the younger kids look up to you guys and hope to be as successful as you have been in their careers. What advice would you give them as far as what it means to be and what it takes to be a KHS Yellowjacket football player?
Kyle: I would say the usual, hard work and dedication is what it takes. It might be hard some days, but everything will come together if you put in the time, do every workout and every rep.
Tristun: Honestly, just enjoy it and embrace it while you can. You only get four years. I didn't play two of those four and I wish I would've played all four. It's some of the most fun I've had.
Cade: I would say learn to enjoy the process and all the hard work that comes with it.
Jax: It takes a lot, but you get out what you put in. You will have bad days but that's a part of the process.
Kale: I would say to try and be better and work harder than what we did. Embrace the uncomfortable part and pain of getting better.
Harrison: Some advice I would give to younger players is to always go 100 percent. Effort always beats talent and that's what it takes to be a Jacket.
Aaron: Do what others don't do, and you can be successful.
Blake: My advice would be work hard, show up and put in as much effort as possible.
Braden: Being a Yellowjacket means that effort and attitude flows through your veins. Coach preaches it to us every day and we try our hardest every day to show him that we live by that motto. The advice I would give to the younger kids is to work as hard as you can because nothing is handed to you.
Noah: Do what your Momma tells you to do, go to Sunday School, go to Church, work hard, listen, be coachable and maybe if you're lucky you can be a Yellowjacket football player.
EC: The game is awfully close to Halloween. Are there any tricks or treats in the works for North Rock Creek?
Noah: Woah Commish, that's for us to know and you can find out along with North Rock Creek.
Jax: Noah is at QB1.
Noah: Yeah, Jax and I will be doing a position swap.
Wrigley: I may or may not be getting a carry or two.
Harrison: Yeah, Noah and Wrigley are in the backfield this week.
Tristun: Noah to Wrigley pass connection may be active.
Cade: Look for Noah or Wrigley to score. That's all I'm gonna say.

Sofies, I've had the pleasure of being around these boys since some of them were in diapers. This wasn't the easiest interview or blog to write, even for this chiseled veteran. Words won't do justice to try to describe how proud I am (and I'm sure you are as well) of them. Not only because of what they have been able to accomplish on the field but also the quality of gentlemen they have become off the field.
The future is bright for these young men. I am looking forward to watching them close out their home career Friday night, next week in Anadarko and then on to the playoffs. I think however, that I'm even more excited to see what they accomplish after their time at KHS is complete.
