SCOUTING THE eagles

Weatherford opens their 2022 season in Kingfisher Friday night vs the 0-1 Jackets. The eagles are coming off a 4-6 2021 record and are already making excuses for another dismal season. They return five starters on offense from last year's squad (3 of which are seniors) one of which is Senior QB Reece Villines. Villines is somehow rated as one of VYPE's Top 100 after throwing for 1200 yards and 11 TDs last year. To break that down a bit, that's passing for 120 yards and tossing one up in the end zone to a 6'4 receiver per game. They run a multiple spread type offense that your Jackets see everyday in practice.

Defensively, the eagles aren't much better. They have no Seniors listed as actual leaders on that side of the ball. Their leading tackler from last year is a Junior and had 40, so breaking that down means 4 tackles a game. Considering some of the opponents they had last year, I'm pretty sure my 5 year old great niece could get 5 hit sticks per game in between picking flowers and dandelions so again, not too impressed. They supposedly run a 3-3-5 offense that couldn't work out better for the Jacket offense and will allow our line to demolish theirs and give our RBs room to run which can open up Jax and the passing game.
This looks like a great home opener for your Jackets. Especially with Chisholm coming to town next week, the Jackets can take full advantage of a solid week of prep for Weatherford and the Seniors can christen the season with a win at home.
