Don’t Bring A Cow To Fight A Wrig

Lone Grove didn't do enough homework last week, and it was evident from the first snap. Sure, they saw where to attack when they threw the ball or to not kick the ball to certain players, but they didn't cover everything.
Ironically, they missed one of the biggest players on the field. No. 70, Wrigley Kennedy turned in the best performance this viewer has ever seen him play- and that's quite a few.
All Kennedy did was wreak havoc on both sides of the ball. The offensive line dominated almost all night, practically daring the longhorns to try and stop the run. Most of the largest ground gains were when the backs followed the Grand Canyon-esque holes created by Kennedy and center, Noah Friesen.
On defense, Wrig was making his opponents look like paper dolls, constantly causing the offense to shift the plays or just completely run away from him.
However, there was one play that caused my jaw to drop and completely forget that I was sitting on a metal bleacher in the middle of a sleet storm. Lone Grove completed a little screen pass, and the receiver looked in front of him at nothing but green grass to the end zone. Big Wrig, however, had that receiver in his sights. The massive Kennedy, who keep in mind had been playing on both sides of the ball for almost three quarters at this point, in miserable conditions RAN. DOWN. THE. RECEIVER. It was textbook. He moved like a flash. Initially when I saw the play, I wondered who it was that brought down the carrier only to realize that it was No. 70. The crowd erupted and it was a huge play that gave the Jacket defense momentum while also causing the Lone Grove coaches to look down and shake their heads in dismay.
On another offensive series, Kennedy pulled and laid a hit on a kid that I think his parents felt. They must have because halfway through the fourth quarter, many of the Lone Grove fans were seen leaving to go select seats for their soon to be opening basketball season.
Bright lights and big stages bring out the biggest players and tonight was proof of that.
If Lone Grove had done their homework, or at least tried to pay attention to details a quarter of what you, dear Sofies, get here every week- they would've known that at the Senior Night pep rally Wrigley was shown in OU gear. And anyone who knows anything about the crimson and cream knows that Sooner born and Sooner bred have a strong distaste for Longhorns.
Next week the Jackets will travel to Lincoln Christian for Round 2. Stats and insight will follow.
