Greetings and salutations to my virtual nieces and nephews also known as readers, and welcome to another bit of merriment and wisdom from your beloved Uncle Bud.
I'm sure that you are familiar with the quote:
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog
This quote has been attributed to Mark Twain, Winston Churchill, Archie Griffin and A.G. Lewis to name a few. The person who coined the phrase is meaningless in my mind and I would rather concentrate on the meaning behind it.
Life has an intense way of provoking change. Sometimes it comes in the form of our happiness being compromised, spoiled friendships or being overwhelmed by standing at the crossroads. No matter the situation, life will challenge us to either get right or get left. These tests that we are going through aren’t because we are bad people but to prepare us for the greatness that awaits.
Ultimately, our success depends on the size of the fight in the dog. It thrives off of our mindset and feeds off from our connections to the universe. Once we understand our “why”, we will have a purpose. Focusing on why we want to live a certain lifestyle, will help set the intentions and our actions will help bring them full circle.
If you’re anything like me, you have a huge amount of fight in you. For example, on one hand a person may sit back and say, I want to be the best I can be, but never do anything about it. On the other hand, one may not allow anything to stand in their way of achieving that lofty goal.
I feel that the Jackets will have the biggest amount of fight in their dawgs versus Perkins (team not restaurant) and will prove it Friday night. The Jackets opponent may be bigger dogs but won't have the same amount of fight by a long shot.
Too many of your Jackets have the mindset of one game at a time and aren't looking ahead. Looking ahead is for after the game, not before and everything I've been seeing from Perkins tells me that their minds are looking after the game, especially by scheduling this contest on their homecoming night. The last time a team did this, the Jackets routed their opponent and sent them home to their mommies limping and licking their wounds while the cheerleaders and girlfriends sat drying their tears in their homecoming mums.
