LET THE PLAY DEVELOP” - That Saying Is Money!
That’s a football saying I picked up years ago, then incorporated into my vocabulary for the right occasion, which is primarily….when people are impatient.
It basically means bide your time, don’t panic, watch and wait, trust the process, give the things that need to happen time to happen. You know…. “Let the play develop”.
I use it often in my profession as a Realtor, mainly during a negotiation.
Sometimes, clients want things to happen right away, or in short order, wanting answers now, not later.
Silence is uncomfortable, people get antsy, the fear of loss kicks in and, patience often pays, often in thousands of dollars, but….
You gotta be patient, and let the play develop. (Yes, it matter which Realtor you choose!)
What about Faith? Does it apply to Faith as well? Sure it does….
The Bible is absolutely full of stories where God’s people were delivered over, around, through, or from “something” that was unfortunate, or unpleasant.
Fun things like…. floods (Noah’s family) , imprisonment (Paul), slavery, famine, war, being fed to lions (Daniel), thrown in a furnace, abandonment (Moses as a baby).
The Bible is thick, and that list of stories is long, and in almost all of them God’s strategy was…. “Let The Play Develop, Trust Me, Trust My Timing, I’m God”.
Here’s the thing….
You will never love anyone more than God loves them, and you You will never be loved by anyone, more than God loves you. With that in mind….
God knows what we need, He knows what we don’t need, and if you follow Him, through a personal relationship with Christ, He will meet your needs, and orchestrate your life, in the direction He wants your life, and you, to go.
The hard part for us inpatient humans is we often want everything right now, and right now doesn’t often grow Faith.
God can work in “right now” time, but most often, He works in “let the play develop” time, which lets you see Him open doors and make connections in your life… that only He can be credited with opening and making. (Read that twice)
A great example in my life was, years ago, when I gave my life to Christ and God gave me one very clearly directive…. “Share your Faith”.
I remember it well, it was a Wednesday night about 10:00, but I received ZERO directions on how to do that as time went by, but….
I eventually acted on that silent but consistent nudge to write about the “things” He was doing in my life. The needs He was meeting and the things He was orchestrating to meet those needs…. that only He could be credited with.
Looking back over the last few years, when God said, “go share your Faith”, what he was saying is….
“Seek Me, Follow Me, Trust Me, And…. Let The Play Develop”. (That’s where Faith grows)
Get In The Boat. Do Your Part.
Let The Play Develop…. From Nose To Toes!
