FANS AND FOLLOWERS

First off, if you don’t read anything beyond the first paragraph, know this…. We Are In This Together!

Facebook has this feature where if you interact on this page enough times, “like” or “comment”, or “share”, it will offer you a “Top Fan” badge to display beside your name when you leave a comment to a post.

I remember the first one I saw months ago, it caught my attention. I didn’t even know they existed on this platform up until then. I knew there were “followers”, but “Top Fans”? Get Out!

I mean, I had some “fans” back when I played baseball, and that was always cool, but those baseball days are long gone for me.

I’ve been at this long enough, and God has chosen to bless it enough (read that part twice), that people often mention the stories I write when I cross paths with them in person. It is both exciting and humbling, when this actually happens.

It is exciting, because it is something I am passionate about doing, the sharing of God’s work in my life. Hearing that someone actually read about it and more importantly, on occasion, benefited from what I shared, well, that’s exciting stuff to me.

It is humbling, because I can’t take credit for any of it. I mean, seriously, I can’t. I gave my life to Christ because I was out of options, and instead of God placing me on probation for a few years first, He just said great, bout time, let’s get to work. This is the result, and it is humbling.

Back to the opening paragraph…

Speaking for myself the term “We’re in this together”, gets thrown around too much in this world. Truth is, in most cases, we’re not in this together, we’re on our own.

Sure, we might have family, or friends, or friends that are like family, but at the end of the day when it comes to the heavy lifts in life, even the not so heavy ones, it’s usually on you and you alone. I promise you “everybody” isn’t in it with you.

Faith is different….

As a Christian, a Believer, a follower of Christ, that makes you part of the body of Believers, the Faithfull, the Faith filled, whatever term you want to apply, and from God’s perspective, if you are in that group, then we are indeed…. in this together.

By “this” I mean the spreading of the gospel, the good news, pointing people to Christ with our actions, words and deeds, with our life.

People need encouragement, people need to know God, through a personal relationship with Christ. That’s what this page is all about, trying to make people stop and think, pointing back to the source of worldly hope, and eternal salvation.

So, know this…. when you “like”, or “comment” or “share” something I write, it is both encouraging, humbling, appreciated to me, and it spreads that message far and wide, and, AND….

You are not a “fan”, a “follower” or even a “Top Fan”. No sir. We are on the same team, wearing the same jersey, rowing the same boat, carrying the same water to a thirsty world.

Fans of, and followers, of Christ…. In “this” together!
