Basketball Madness Begins

Good morning Sofies. As Larry Jo and I get ready to start our day, we decided to comment a little bit about the most recent Jacket basketball madness/intro/hype fest/whatever.
The event took place on Monday night but I felt that I should give it a few days before commenting on it, which will be brief because LJ is sitting on my lap pushing gas that could melt paint. May be time to get him on a new diet...

Ok time for basketball. The girls are going to be solid. They graduated a couple greats and have had some attrition but reloaded with solid freshman who know nothing but how to play hard and win. Look for Coach Young and crew to have another successful year and be in the hunt for gold. They will definitely be worth the price of admission.
The boys, OTOH, are going to have a rough road. This is the absolute definition of a rebuilding year. Not only because of the amount of quality players that graduated, but also a brand new coaching staff. Time will tell, but it looks like this is going to be a very long season for the Jackets.
It's also one that if the new coach wants to build on, he has his work cut out for him because the players he has now act as if they are going to replicate the success of the last four years despite the fact that they took no part in it whatsoever apart from tossing the ball back to the starters during warm ups. See definitions: wannabes, hardo, posers.
As our friend Mars told us back in the day of MJ, it ain't the shoes. In the case of the current Jackets, it ain't the name on the front of your jersey that will bring opponents to their knees anymore. In fact, it is quite the opposite. The front of the jersey might as well be a bullseye.
Believe it or not Sofies, there are some schools out there that want to beat Kingfisher in a very bad way. They have been watching the schedule and anticipating their chance to come into the Hive and repay them for what the Jackets did to them in years past. Revenge if you will. This is the best time for those bent on such a nefarious idea to accomplish their goals.
The Jackets are rebuilding, just a fact. One of the most difficult things for a new coach/manager to do is to implement a new system. Especially when the previous coach/manager was extremely successful (shout out CSM Slick) and there are some who are butthurt that the new guy isn't the one for the job, not that any of that is being said about the new basketball coach, that point was just thrown in as an example of what some new coaches/managers are going up against #iykyk.
Sofies, I hope I'm wrong about this. BBD has said that if a down year is to happen, this is the year with the current situation in 4A basketball with the Eagles from Weatherford led by All World CJ and Nate the Great as the strong favorites to return to the finals and win it all.
I hope that we have two teams bring home gold balls at the end of the season, I really do. But both squads have some varsity maturing to do, one squad is more than capable and has the leadership to do so- the other...time will tell.
